Wondering what the best way to have GPS location but non utilise data.

Im Going to brevard this week and being from Canada, I turn on aeroplane manner when I hit the edge.

In testing, my GPS is on but trailforks says it is off. Strava volition record my ride only doesnt locate me on a map as they dont offer pre loading.

Whats your thoughts on how to non use data (I dont even want texts coming in as it is a work telephone and I have no option to add a US plan) I would really dear to use the app down there as nosotros have some crawly rides planned.

thanks

Hmm thats odd, the GPS should still work even in airplane fashion, IF y'all accept location nevertheless enabled (on Android).

What phone and OS version are you using?

When your telephone is in airplane way it can take A LOT longer for your GPS to go a location from the satellites. Phones normally use prison cell towers to become fast rough locations. Y'all can use an Android app like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2 to meet if your phones GPS is getting a signal.

With my phone inside my business firm, wether im in aeroplane mode or not, it takes a very long time for me to go an actual satellite position using the app mentioned above.

I am also having issues with GPS in airplane mode: the downloaded areas maps are working great, merely will non show my location on the map...

When I press the locate me push button nothing changes for about 10 seconds, so a message window opens saying "Error Location timeout, you lot might have your GPS disabled?". However, I tin can open other apps in plane fashion (e.grand. Trimble GPS Hunt, or OfflineMaps) and those mapping programs are having no trouble establishing my GPS location in seconds.

I am using Android Version 6.0, on a Motorola phone.

This is a bummer because I will exist heading to Canada to ride, and cannot utilize cell service or data while at that place. Hopefully in that location is an piece of cake solution.

Thank you,
-Dan

Mine did work although it would still throw out the gps error. It does take a long time to locate the gps and the locate button didnt seem tonwork. I would just zoom out untill i saw my location dot and zoom in. It also allowed me to ride and update my position in realtime(also shows an pointer on the dot to show direction.).

All on all it did what information technology was supposed to do in a pinch, although it would he squeamish if the trails had names when data is off. I had to click on the trail to observe out the proper noun of the ones i was on.

I am besides having trouble with this on a Droid Turbo.

When in airplane mode trailforks says it does not have permission to access the GPS. I checked app settings and information technology says that Trailforks does have permission to access my location with the GPS.

I used Gaia GPS and Strava in airplane mode and take no issues with it. I think this is a bug.

GPS wont work properly in plane manner..

The unproblematic solution would exist to switch off data in the settings carte, and leave plane mode off...

aforementioned problem hither, but I would specify the GPS is non working on trailforks in Airplane manner only if I utilize another GPS app at the same fourth dimension (Strava, or another GPS logging app).
If I only apply Trailforks it does work and show my location (and center the screen to it when asked) even in plane mode.

The version is Android 6.0.
The GPS works ok with wifi on and data off as long as there is a wifi connection only does non when out of wifi range. I have installed the GPS Status App which shows that the GPS does work without a wifi connection.

Can you try getting your gps location in the app and after information technology fails, goto the feedback link in the app's main bill of fare and ship united states of america an email. This attaches some debug info.
